OUR WORK

Apollo’s Aid

SPCA International’s Apollo’s Aid is named after a heroic dog named Apollo, who suffered from severe abuse before SPCA International rescued him through their Patriot Pets program in 2018. Due to his past injuries, Apollo required significant medical care, which he received with the help of SPCAI’s dedicated team, his devoted family, and veterinary professionals. Apollo has since passed on, but his legacy lives on through the program, which helps military and refugee families stay united with their beloved pets while ensuring they receive the care they need to live healthy, happy lives.

Over the course of the program, Apollo’s Aid supported more than 1,000 families. Due to positive policy changes, the gap this program was designed to fill no longer exists in the same way. As a result, SPCA International has made the decision to close Apollo’s Aid and reallocate resources to areas where the need is greatest today.

We are deeply proud of what Apollo’s Aid accomplished and profoundly grateful to the supporters who made it possible.

Emergency PCS Support (Temporary Reopening)

SPCA International will temporarily reopen its previously closed PCS (Permanent Change of Station) Program to support U.S. active-duty military members who have received PCS orders and are now affected by an emergency evacuation.

In times of crisis, many servicemembers are forced to leave beloved pets behind, often with limited options or resources to reunite with them.

Through the reopened PCS Program, SPCA International is committed to removing those barriers. We will coordinate and cover critical aspects of the relocation process, including transportation logistics, required vaccinations, and rabies titer testing, as needed. SPCA International will cover 65% of the total relocation cost to help ease the immediate financial burden. The remaining 35% will be the servicemember’s responsibility once their pet is ready for transport.

Our goal is to ensure that no service member has to make the difficult choice between duty and their companion animal.

Eligible military members are encouraged to apply as soon as possible using the Patriot Pets Application. SPCA International remains dedicated to supporting those who serve by helping them reunite with the animals that provide comfort, stability, and unconditional support.
