Spanish Greyhound Humane Education Center Opening in Spain

SPCA International and SOS Galgos are proud to announce that ground has been broken on a humane education center in Esplugues, Spain, dedicated to the plight of Spanish Greyhounds. This center is the first of its kind anywhere in the world. SOS Galgos has been working tirelessly for four years to secure the land, find an appropriate and affordable structure and obtain funding.

In 2016, SPCAI pledged a $40,000 grant over two years to the project - helping SOS Galgos greenlight the next steps. Together, SPCAI and SOS Galgos will continue to work to end the suffering of these beautiful, gentle animals. Community education will ensure that future generations have compassion and empathy toward animals and understand why the tradition of hare coursing with galgo and podenco are inhumane. Together we are making our world a better place. Learn More

Check out these tips and tricks for bringing your pet on your next adventure.

Hey, Did You Know?

That honeybees (Apis mellifera) can live up to 5 years. Honeybees live in a hive made up of workers (females that are not sexually developed), a Queen (a single female bee that lays eggs), and drones (male bees). Honeybees fly at 15 miles per hour and communicate by dancing and through pheromones. If honeybees earned minimum wage, a jar of honey would cost $182,000!

Please help our animal population - have your pets spayed or neutered!
