How to Ruin Your Thanksgiving DinnerPolar Bears live in the Arctic. They use sea ice as a platform to hunt seals which make up most of their diet. They have an excellent sense of smell, with the ability to detect seals nearly a mile away. They can reach speeds up to 25 mph on land and 6 mph in water. Male polar bears can weigh up to 1500 lbs and the females weigh about half as much as the males.
