Bringing Warmth to Chornobyl’s Stray Dogs

We’re excited to share some uplifting news highlighting the power of collaboration and compassion! SPCA International has partnered with Farm & Yard, known for their innovative animal care products, and long-time Shelter Partner Clean Futures Fund (CFF) to address a critical need for the feral dogs of Chornobyl, Ukraine. We’re bringing CozyCube™ insulated dog houses to provide essential shelter for these resilient animals.

A Beacon of Hope in Difficult Times

The dogs living in the forests around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant face daily struggles. Descendants of pets abandoned after the 1986 nuclear disaster and recent survivors of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, they endure harsh winters with little food or shelter. With the plant’s deteriorating infrastructure offering no reliable refuge, their situation is dire.

That’s where our incredible partnership comes in. Farm & Yard has generously donated 20 extra-large CozyCube™ insulated dog houses to protect these dogs from the brutal winter weather. Clean Futures Fund, which we’ve proudly supported since 2018, has helped place these CozyCubes in secure areas within the Exclusion Zone, ensuring these dogs have a safe and warm place to rest.

Approximately 80 dogs are living within the Exclusion Zone. Due to restrictions, these precious pups cannot be adopted into loving homes. That’s why our mission is to create a sense of home for them.

As the Ukraine-Russia conflict continues, our partnership with Farm & Yard and CFF is more important than ever. We’re excited about the positive impact this project is having on the dogs of Chornobyl and can’t wait to share more updates with you!

Thank you for your ongoing support—together, we’re making a difference, one CozyCube at a time!
