Their Work

Started in 1884 and located in Louisville, the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) is Kentucky’s largest animal adoption agency and spay/neuter provider. KHS is also the largest destination shelter for unwanted shelter animals in Kentucky, with over 3,500 cats, dogs, and horses transported to KHS for adoption from shelters in over 35 Kentucky counties. Through its Love 120 program, KHS works with rural Kentucky shelters to reduce overcrowding and increase their lifesaving capacity. In June 2022, KHS launched its CARE-a-van mobile veterinary unit to reduce barriers to Kentucky families accessing affordable veterinary care.

Recently, SPCA International partnered with the Kentucky Humane Society to provide emergency-response aid to the animal shelters impacted by the floods in Kentucky. We are proud of the work KHS is doing to aid those most in need and know that with our support, they will be able to help even more animals in need.
