Their Work

Metropolitan Maltese Rescue is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1998 by a group of Maltese dog lovers in New York City. The volunteers foster and place Maltese and Maltese-mixes found as strays, surrendered by their owners, or rescued from shelters. They are dedicated to using every means at their disposal to keep Maltese out of shelters and in loving, responsible and permanent forever-after homes.

Every foster and potential permanent home is carefully screened and all the dogs are vetted, spayed or neutered. The volunteers are also available after adoption to aid in resolving any concerns or problems that may arise.  Because they rely solely on donations, funding and professional support is always needed in order to sustain their no-kill community wide vision.
