Their Work

The mission of the MSPCA-Angell is to protect animals, relieve their suffering, advance their health and welfare, prevent cruelty, and work for a just and compassionate society. Founded in 1868, they are the second-oldest humane society in the United States.

The Animal Care and Adoption Centers care for and adopt out thousands of animals yearly at three locations: Boston, Methuen and Cape Cod. In 2020, they placed over 4,000 domestic and farm animals into loving adoptive homes. MSPCA-Angell operates Community Outreach programs that work to keep families and pets together. They pursue this goal by offering affordable and accessible animal care resources to families in underserved communities. Last year their team provided nearly 6,000 subsidized medical care treatments to animals in need. MSPCA-Angell also operates an animal hospital that serves over 102,000 animals a year at its locations in Boston, Waltham, Angell at Nashoba and Angell at Essex.

SPCA International is proud to support MSPCA-Angell’s pet relocation program in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, as well as their overall mission to help protect all animals
