Their Work
With an estimated 16,000 homeless dogs and cats fighting for survival on the streets of Manzanillo, Mexico, a group of all volunteer run citizens and expats have come together to donate their time, effort, money and skills to the welfare of these animals.
PATA, an acronym for “People Helping all Animals” translated from Spanish, is a non-profit organization founded in 2005, whose mission is to provide free spay/neuter clinics; foster homeless and injured animals to place them in forever homes, and cultivate a a culture of respect and concern for all animals and wildlife through education.
One of PATA’s goals is to appeal to the public by indicating the impact of many animals who are left dying, suffering, poisoned and hit by cars in the streets as being a major health concern to the public. Abandon, sick and deceased animals pose a threat to infection, disease and polluted beaches within the community.
They work not only with the local citizens but with the municipality of the region as well as foreigners who arrive that would like to offer their help. These animals require human intervention, profoundly stated on their website, ” After all it’s not their fault, it’s ours”.
