Their Work

Roatan Rescue is a non-profit organization based out of Michigan, USA, working on the island of Roatan, in Honduras. They run the largest animal sanctuary and dog and cat shelter in the country, providing veterinary care and a safe loving home to over 600 dogs, cats, horses, and chickens. The shelter and veterinary clinic are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by 29 full-time caregivers and 2 veterinarians. Roatan Rescue provides 31 much-needed full-time jobs in the community and is the second largest employer on the east side of the island.

Focused on serving the needs of the community, Roatan Rescue’s public veterinary clinic provides low-cost and subsidized veterinary care with a focus on spaying, neutering, vaccinations, and disease prevention. They see hundreds of animals in their public clinic each year and have performed over 700 low-cost or free spay & neuter surgeries in the last year.

SPCA International is proud to support Roatan Rescue in its efforts to improve the lives of animals and people in its community.
