Their Work
SOS Algarve Animals was established in 2012 with a goal to sterilize abandoned cats and dogs, and to provide affordable spay and neuter to low-income families.
The team at SOS Algarve Animals strongly believes in sterilization, and on average, spays and neuters over 1,000 cats and dogs each year. While they do not have their own animal shelter, they highlight the animal shelters in their local communities and give a profile about the shelter’s operations, the animals in their care, and how the public can help.
SOS Algarve seeks to continue their work in sterilization and set up a trap-neuter-release program for colony cats in their region. SPCA International is proud to support SOS Algarve Animals in this endeavor and we affirm their strong belief in sterilization as a humane stray animal population management tool.
