Their Work

SRCE ZA ŠAPU was founded in 2015, as a spontaneous response to the critical condition of abandoned dogs in Sanski Most, Bosnia. Its mission is to save abandoned dogs from hunger, disease, loneliness, fear, and lack of human love that every dog needs so much, and to enable them a safe, healthy, and happy life.

In addition to the activities directly related to running a dog shelter (nutrition, maintaining hygiene, health care, vaccination, sterilization and micro-chipping, facility maintenance and repairs, dog adoption, and most importantly, giving love to dogs), SRCE ZA ŠAPU conducts advocacy activities focused on government and the general public. These include sending written requests and complaints to the authorities, promo clips on social networks, local media and city displays, and organizing citizens’ protests. These activities are a direct response to the lack of government support and action, despite the enactment of the Animal Protection Act more than a decade ago.

SPCA International is proud to support SRCE ZA ŠAPU in their efforts to improve the lives of stray animals in their community.
