Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic (DCDR) was founded in 2013 when a number of friends decided to coordinate their efforts to help the animals on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Their mission is to improve the welfare of the Coconut Hounds and Cats living in the country.

DCDR operates a foster/adoption program, but a large portion of their work is with their community outreach. Through the Community Outreach Program, they provide preventive medicines and treatments in poor areas, providing help to people who love their dogs and cats as much as anyone else. Thanks to their extensive network and passionate team, they are able to provide preventive care to nearly 1,000 animals every single month of the year. DCDR also operates a mobile clinic, the Rescue Rover, to perform free spay and neuter clinics for needy animals. By partnering with qualified, volunteer veterinarians, DCDR is able to perform over 1,000 sterilization surgeries every year.

Their volunteer-driven team conducts regular rabies vaccine clinics in rural Liberia, where they also provide veterinary care to help improve the welfare and health of both the pets and the people in the community.
