Founded in 2014, Sunshine Kitty Rescue and Adoptions has been dedicated to changing the attitude toward feral cats by empowering locals to be part of the solution.

Sunshine Kitty Rescue and Adoptions is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted cats and kittens in their community through trap/neuter/vaccinate/release. Feral cat colonies are closely monitored and cared for by locals while non-feral cats and kittens are removed and found loving forever homes. Through humane education and support, Sunshine Kitty Rescue and Adoptions is seeing a change in how people view feral cats.

In 2002 a group of like-minded actors, playwriters, producers, directors and coaches established One World Actors Productions – Animal Rescue (OWAP–AR) with the goal to spread animal welfare all over the world.

OWAP–AR has been active in Yemen since the start of the civil war in March 2015. From supporting the feeding and care of the 287 at the Taiz Zoo to providing medical care, food and rescue to 300 suffering Arabian police horses. With their ongoing rescue work at the Taiz Zoo and Police and Military Academies and Riding School OWAP-AR took on another mission; opening the first shelter in Yemen to provide shelter, medical care, rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming to the abandoned and neglected cats and dogs of Sana’a.

Founded in 1960, Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) has been dedicated to humane education and giving abandoned animals the best opportunities to find a forever home.

LCHS rescues over 600 animals and helps pet owners in the form of spay/neuter vouchers and a pet food pantry. The LCHS staff and their 200+ volunteers work tirelessly to provide socialization and companionship to the many animals in their care as well as bringing humane education to their community.

Founded over 100 years ago in Dubuque Iowa the Dubuque Regional Humane Society has been dedicated to promoting the well-being of all animals by fostering respect and building life-long bonds between companion animals and people through adoption, education, community outreach and the prevention of cruelty.

Dubuque Regional Humane Society owns and operates its own veterinary clinic to serve the lost, abandoned, and unwanted pets in Dubuque and surrounding areas. In addition to the thousands of companion animals they care for annually through their many programs, in 2017 the Dubuque Regional Humane Society took in 715 dogs and 76 cats from overcrowded shelters in the south to be adopted locally.

In 2013 Patricia Blanco, after witnessing the cruelty inflicted on a dog from a dogfighting ring in Santo Domingo, decided to make a huge difference in the lives of the animals in the Dominican Republic by establishing the Patricia Blanco Animal Foundation.

With the help of 50 volunteers and a network of “PB Animal Lovers” the Patricia Blanco Animal Foundation works hard to reduce the stray animal population, combat the spread of disease, and provide humane education about animal rights and welfare. On average the Patricia Blanco
Animal Foundation helps 1,300 animals every year through sterilization, medical care and finding perfect forever homes.

Founded in 2007 in Loquillo, Puerto Rico, Island Dog Inc. has been working non-stop to provide care to not only stray animals but to pets in low-income families.

Every year Island Dog Inc. helps 3,000 cats and dogs. In addition to the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption work that Island Dog Inc. accomplishes they also provide food, medical care, vaccinations, boarding and transportation assistance to local pet owners in order to enable them to keep their pet with their family. Island Dog Inc. makes sure that every animal in their care is sterilized to help humanely decrease the stray animal population

Amigos de los Animales, Inc.

Founded in 2005, Amigos de los Animales (ADLA) provides rescue, rehabilitation and adoption to the abandoned and abused animals of Loiza, Puerto Rico.

Located in one of the poorest areas of Puerto Rico ADLA rescues 240 dogs annually. In addition to the care they bring to the animals they rescue, ADLA works with the local community to promote humane treatment of animals through educational programs and low-cost spay/neuter clinics. ADLA also collaborates with the Puerto Rico Department of Health and the New Jersey corporation Career Development Institute to provide Puerto Rico’s only 6-day Animal Control Officer-Cruelty Investigator certification course.
