Their Work

Rubicon Husky Rescue Ranch is a branch of the Play For A Stray charities, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization whose sanctuary approach ensures that all dogs get a second chance at life. They work with shelters to rescue dogs at risk of being euthanized, particularly huskies. Because huskies often do not do well in a shelter/kennel environment, they struggle to find a suitable adopter. They can end up on the euthanasia list due to overcrowding or temperament. Rubicon Husky Rescue Ranch pulls these animals out of the shelter environment and provides them with training and socialization with professional dog handlers. Once ready, the huskies are adopted into loving homes. Dogs not suited for adoption become permanent members of the dog sanctuary, where they will be loved and cared for by a team of professional dog handlers.

SPCA International is proud to support the Rubicon Husky Rescue Ranch and its commitment to giving every dog the chance they deserve at a happy, loving life.

US Dog Coalition & Rescue rescues, feeds, and assists in the spaying and neutering of street dogs living in the Copper Canyon region of Mexico. They are actively working on building the first-ever shelter in Creel, Chihuahua Mexico, a region where the closest veterinarian is more than 2 hours away.

The communities in which US Dog Coalition & Rescue operates are incredibly poor and filled with people who do not have the means to assist the animals in need. The thousands of street dogs in the region depend on the team at US Dog Coalition & Rescue to survive. Without they would have no access to essential resources such as food or basic medical care.

US Dog Coalition & Rescue want to utilize the shelter they are constructing to not only serve to save the lives of many more street dogs but to educate the public and perform community outreach. Currently, much of the community sees stray dogs as nuisances, US Dog Coalition is hopeful that with education, they can change the way much of the community views these stray animals.

SPCA International is proud to support US Dog Coalition & Rescue in their efforts to improve the lives of stray animals in Mexico.

SRCE ZA ŠAPU was founded in 2015, as a spontaneous response to the critical condition of abandoned dogs in Sanski Most, Bosnia. Its mission is to save abandoned dogs from hunger, disease, loneliness, fear, and lack of human love that every dog needs so much, and to enable them a safe, healthy, and happy life.

In addition to the activities directly related to running a dog shelter (nutrition, maintaining hygiene, health care, vaccination, sterilization and micro-chipping, facility maintenance and repairs, dog adoption, and most importantly, giving love to dogs), SRCE ZA ŠAPU conducts advocacy activities focused on government and the general public. These include sending written requests and complaints to the authorities, promo clips on social networks, local media and city displays, and organizing citizens’ protests. These activities are a direct response to the lack of government support and action, despite the enactment of the Animal Protection Act more than a decade ago.
