Supporters 70.5 or older with a traditional IRA are eligible to make a potential tax-free donation to SPCA International. These gifts are tax-free, regardless of whether or not you itemize deductions on your tax return. If you are 73 years old or older, these gifts can even count towards fulfilling your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the calendar year.
SPCA International has partnered with an IRA-giving tool that walks you through the process of making this gift. Learn more about IRA-giving and if it’s right for you.
Don’t worry, there are still ways to help animals if you haven’t reached age 70.5 yet! If you are at least 59.5 years old, consider using funds from your IRA to make a gift now without penalty (you could also take a charitable deduction if you itemize deductions). And there is no age requirement for animal lovers like you to include SPCA International as a beneficiary of your IRA. Funds will come to us tax-free that might otherwise be taxed when left to loved ones. Just ask your IRA administrator for a form to add or change your beneficiary.
